Repeated Random Crashes to Desktop (APPCRASH c0000005)
|
System Specifications
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (6-Core, 4.2 GHz) GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT RAM: 16 GB DDR4 @ 2400 MHz Operating System: Windows 11 25H2 (stable release, not Insider/Dev/Beta) GPU Driver Version: 32.0.21043.10005 Game Client: Standalone Grinding Gear Games launcher (not Steam) Problem Description Path of Exile 2 crashes randomly to desktop without any warning message. Observed behavior: Game instantly closes to desktop. No BSOD. No system reboot. Windows remains fully operational. Crashes can occur: During gameplay. While idle in town. The crashes do not appear tied to any specific zone, encounter, monster, skill, or graphical effect. Reliability Monitor Information Windows Reliability Monitor consistently reports: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: PathOfExile.exe Faulting Module Name: PathOfExile.exe Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0000000002b5af81 Example report: Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile 2\PathOfExile.exe Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: PathOfExile.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Faulting Module Name: PathOfExile.exe Faulting Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0000000002b5af81 No external DLL (AMD, DirectX, Vulkan, ntdll, etc.) is listed as the faulting module. Windows identifies PathOfExile.exe itself as the crashing module. Windows Event Viewer Findings During investigation I found historical reports of: LiveKernelEvent 141 WATCHDOG dump generation Previous Windows Error Reporting entries However, these reports appear to reference historical dump files from earlier dates and may not be directly associated with the most recent PoE2 crashes. Still, LiveKernelEvent 141 has appeared on this machine at various times. Rendering API Testing Tested with: DirectX 12 Vulkan Crashes occur under both rendering APIs. Therefore the issue does not appear isolated to a single renderer. Windows Integrity Checks Performed System File Checker Executed: sfc /scannow Results: Initially found and repaired: BthA2dp.sys BthHfEnum.sys These are Bluetooth-related Microsoft drivers. After repair: Repeated execution of: sfc /scannow returned: "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." DISM Health Check Executed: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Result: No component store corruption detected. Operation completed successfully. Memory Diagnostics Executed: mdsched.exe Windows Memory Diagnostic completed successfully. No memory errors reported. AMD Ryzen Master Investigation While troubleshooting, I discovered two active kernel drivers: AMDRyzenMasterDriverV29 Path: C:\Program Files\AMD\RyzenMasterSDK\bin\AMDRyzenMasterDriver.sys AMDRyzenMasterDriverV31 Path: C:\Windows\System32\AMDRyzenMasterDriver.sys Both drivers were: Running Auto Start However: AMD Ryzen Master is not intentionally installed. AMD Ryzen Master SDK is present on the system. No evidence has been found linking these drivers to the PoE2 crashes. At this stage they are considered unrelated. Additional Notes RAM is running at 2400 MHz (conservative settings). No BSOD occurs when the crash happens. Windows remains responsive after the crash. Crashes happen regardless of location in-game. Crashes are not limited to combat situations. Crashes can happen immediately after launching the game. The issue persists across multiple game sessions. Information Requested I would appreciate any guidance from GGG regarding: Whether exception code c0000005 at offset 0000000002b5af81 is a known issue. Whether this offset corresponds to a known crash signature. Whether additional logging can be enabled. Whether there are known compatibility issues involving: AMD RX 5500 XT Driver version 32.0.21043.10005 Windows 11 25H2 Any recommended method for generating a more useful crash dump for developer analysis. Thank you for your time. Last bumped on Jun 1, 2026, 3:50:22 PM

Replying again because i think i encountered the solution for my problem, and maybe it applies to you too, it was the skill i was using called voltaic barrier, i took it off and it didnt crashed, maybe it was having wierd interactions with the twister that was causing the crash, i still need to test it more to guarantee it wont crash again, but for my little testing it seemed it was this skill causing all the crashes.
