Red mirror Delirium map (loathsome mire)

Has anyone figured out what is it about? I went in a few times and it was just a MASSIVE empty map with a portal out and nothing much else, no loot, no rewards. I haven't been to the forest yet so maybe it's not "activated" mechanic for me but... it seems like a waste of time.
