Head of the King cant progress

I did the first questline, the 5 rite of the nameless maps, got the loot and did another king of the mist, but now i have a head of the king i cannot use, theres no way for me to interact with the Aoife in caer tarth and give it to her or anything? how do i continue grinding ritual?

the effigy has the head from the quest still in it, and im unable to place the new one in

Disregard me, I'm a dummy and a friend literally had to explain it to me in voice chat with supplemental drawings from MS paint. I kept clicking the maps with the quest objective marker wondering why nothing was happening. You're supposed to ignore the flashing quest marker and instead click the tiles adjacant to the one you first selected. xddd

Cannot progress the quest, "Legacy of the Maji" past the point it requires using the Effigy to select 5 maps. When prompted, it only provides 2 maps, selecting either of them decrements the 5 map requirement to 4, and then softlocks me as I'm unable to make any other selections.
