Matiki Doesn't Spawn After Killing Boss on Shrike Island

I left too early first time I did the zone, forgot about it until I was in maps.

Now when I go back he doesn't spawn after killing the bird boss on Shrike island.

Anyone know how to fix this or do I just lose out on isle of hinekora forever on this char?

Maitiki now appears after you kill Merveil in the Singing Caverns. He has moved to a different boss arena every patch so far.
