Why not balance different game modes for different types of players
|
With how different ppl want different play experiences why not make the different game modes appeal to different types of players like most games instead of trying to force balance for everyone across all game modes?

How many different ladies do you want to implement?
This feels like the suggestion to make SSF with buffed loot, but plenty of SSF players play it because it's a harder mode which was it was originally designed fo. Ultimately the reason is because they believe trade is an important core of the game, and a healthy economy is vital. Splitting the player base into more smaller factions makes for weaker economies (look at XBox and PS economies). The only reason they ever agreed to add SSF was because those players already weren't participating in trade. Beyond that, it just takes a lot more time and effort. Which they're using for things like this massive 0.5 patch. Each additional separately balanced league multiplies the effort every other change takes. It's just kind of a bad return on their dev time investment. |

Well i never said anything about ssf man. I was just suggesting an easy solution to make a larger portion of players happy. You seem to be the one focused on a certain game mode or way to play. I'm saying more like make standard for new or casual players make the leagues like the base for all players and make ssf and hardcore for the extreme difficulty players. Also mark said he doesn't care if it makes a lot of work so why not actually make all that work feel productive for everyone. Not everyone plays this game for the same reasons so giving the player the choice of game mode thats tuned for what they want there experience to be like

It's already in there.
You have poe1 zoom zoom mode And Poe2 mode for the gameplay that require brain usage. Combat Balance > Feelings Last edited by Evergrey#7535 on May 25, 2026, 12:38:27 PM

That was just a convenient example as something that has been brought up in this general topic multiple times. It wasn't intended to be antagonistic, just conversational. They're not afraid of work when it adds value for sure, but they've explicitly discussed in the past (notably the forum post when SSF was added) that splitting into more subsets isn't something they want to do.
As far as balancing existing game modes, that's how it already is in practice tbh. Standard has some of the most expensive gear possible in the game for sure, but it also has really strong gear that is trivially cheap that can make you more than strong enough to clear everything in the game. Leagues are in the middle. And SSF is harder without trade. Add in optional HC for the extra challenge. So, you already have what you want it sounds like to me. |

Sounds to me like the issue is them trying to force trade to be honest. I'm a console player so I dont interact with trade anyways. And the price checker only has an explanation of how it will work for pc and a lot have been asking how it will work for console with no response. Yes there are game modes I can turn trade off but that does nothing when it comes to the bad drop rates of crafting materials or loot in general

I know there are players on both sides of the coin and thats fine so why not give the players the choice rather then forcing a choice upon them is basically what I'm getting at.

" How does PoE2 combat require you to use your brain compared to PoE1? [Removed by Support]

" Yes, all of this. But I really would like them to add Ruthless also. I suspect they never will though because of how skill gems work, since you can just choose literally any skill you want. Unfortunate. | |

Seems like Ruthless hasn't been popular enough to be added into PoE2. At least not particularly soon. Maybe after a couple years of updates they might. But I still doubt it, the ruthless player base appears really small afaik, so might not be a sound business investment.
