MINIONS NEED CONVOCATION-SKILL!

The title is pretty self-explanatory... I've been away from poe 2 for a year, just been playing poe 1. Now did one full campaign test run as minions before next league in poe 2, and I'm already feeling burnt out.

It really is not enjoyable, mainly because the gameplay is all about walking one full screen ahead of your minions, if you want to keep minions with you your speed is slowed down to a crawl.

Whenever you pass a narrow door or corridor, especially in the vaal temple, your minions get stuck on the door and they can only pass one by one. If you want them to spawn next to you, you need to run 1,5 screens away from them. The game is full of layouts with narrow doors, like the Holten Estate for example, and as soon as you pass a doorway, get far enough for minions to teleport to you, you already need to be passing the next doorway.

Especially the trials for ascendancy are extremely difficult to complete on a minion build, for this same reason.

Poe 1 has one very easy and simple fix for this issue: Convocation. WHY CAN'T POE 2 HAVE CONVOCATION???????????????????????????????????????????!!!!

If you are baffled by why I'm complaining about this, I see that you have never touched a minion build in poe 2.

Try putting a 70% dmg nerf on everyone every time they pass a doorway, until they get one full screen away from the door, and observe the riots following that change...

2nd issue is the minion survivability. Through most of the campaign, on every boss my minions kept constantly getting one-shot, while I was having around 120% increased minion life from my passive tree. Ever wondered, why minion players invest so heavily to minion revival time? It's because whenever the minions are needed, they are spending 5 seconds on a revival cooldown. For anyone not familiar, that's 100% less dmg about every 10 seconds, for a 5 second duration. You could double the minion base life and still it wouldn't be enough. Minions don't dodge the game mechanics, and they clearly don't have any dmg reduction from mechanics, unlike in poe 1.

I really don't feel like leaguestarting in this upcoming patch. I play games to relax and reduce my stress. The current iteration serves neither of those purposes. Life's too short.

Convocation is in the game in the form of Weapon Swap - at least for persistent minions. You edit each persistent summoned minion to only exist on Weapon Set 1 or 2, then you Press Weapon Swap button twice to teleport them on top of you.

This sorta helps on your second point too... that of minion survivability. Weapon Swap convocation refills your persistent minions HPs to full. There is no cooldown and this action is basically instant speed.

I'd still prefer convocation gem too and I'd also like it if Minion Life Regen was always active... not just out of combat nonsense. But we work with what we've got. I only play Infernal Legion minion cos that boy has like 140k HP so never dies... when I played like Lightning Skeles I was constantly frustrated by minion survivability too. Best of luck.

I just double checked and you're correct minion life regen always active with Vile Mending.
Funny how I didn't notice this playing Infernal Legion last 2 leagues. I just remember having a bad time 0.1 or something with out of combat regen on minions and it ingrained itself in my brain.

Which is bad at best. The weapon swap technique just to trick the game shouldn't be something people are supposed to use.
