Why would anyone play any monk ascendency?

When the first act with monk is such dog water.

You overcome the challenge and look forward towards times when you get your gear, your skills and make your build work.

How to overcome killing 20 enemies and only getting 9 flask charges? Game is still terribly broken by design.

By just basically using a crossbow/bow/spellcaster with a staff.

cause its fun, I enjoy playing monk, including act 1 - actually I prefer the earlier levels when I'm not so powerful yet

If I could give an advice on this, pick Ice nova as your first skill from the miller.
Pretty decent AOE, slow and freeze and has some knockback. Use killing palm when a bunch of monsters are low and falling thunder to clear the rest of the pack.
It's still a lot slower than just using a bow or crossbow, but it gets the job done and it's actually pretty fun.
Replace Ice nova with windblast and support it with impact shockwave asap (aftershock on stun)

Also you might want to consider going acolyte of chayula for Void illusion as your first trial, that stuff is super good during the campain

You forgot about the giant AOE slam of a speed breaker called "The Trialmaster" and "Zarokh".

People, please don't league start monk. Ignore anyone who says otherwise. You'll thank me later.

Edit : The showcases are created with builds with cheats/dev tools enabled on them with item editors/currency drop cheats. It's nothing "revolutionary", it's there for every single game out there. The people who made the showcase didn't grind for 100+ hours and certainly didn't league start with monk on prod. They just "spawned" in the items, unlocked all ascendancy points with a cheat and made the showcase. They didn't kill the Trialmaster or Zarokh with monk.
