(which they were, probably)
The best way to describe it is that the new ascendancies feel like real classes while the old ones are just points on a skill tree, they just exist. It's as if those new ascendancies are something made in a month of high effort while the older ones were put together in a weekend
Imo if those older ascendancies don't get some massive rework, they will always feel lackluster in comparison. I don't mean some random buffs/nerfs like what the Gemling got, because it's not a matter of how strong or weak they are
It's about visual impact and feels, the new "you are this class" instead of the old "you get 5% more damage"

Hmmm, yes and no. I think they want each class to have 1 complex ascendancy, 1 mid and 1 raw power.
If you look witch - infernalist is very complex, lich is mid, blood mage is simple raw power
Monk - martial artist is complex, chayula is mid, invoker raw power
Sorcerer - varastha is complex, chrono is mid, stormreaver is raw power, and so on.
even druid, we have oracle wich is raw power, and shaman that is either mid or complex ( need to look into the 3rd one yet)

True. Warrior is shit.... And lowering only specific item gear levels makes it worse

That sounds like a terrible excuse to be lazy with 2/3 of the ascendancies in the game, and I also don't think it's true at all. Furthermore, a class doesn't need complexity to be interesting/visually appealing/high effort
What's complex about taming a giant monkey boss and have it bonk mobs? It's more about the class having more impact and more going for them
There's nothing complex about infernalist, at most it's a little more unique than the og classes because of demon transformation and dog. It's as complex as blood mage or lich though
Now compare to something newer like Oracle and it's quite clear the difference, not to mention the two newer ones. Oracle has an entire passive tree hidden in the ascendancy, although it's still just raw numbers, it's obvious it's much more high effort than something like Lich

i do not aggree.
Infernalist has so many mechanics that you can do crazy stuff with them, and im not even talking about demonform and dog, you can delete those 2 and it is still has waaay more mechanics than oracle. Not my job to teach you why tho. Its one of the most OP and versatile class rn. It aint weak just because ppl play bows and blood mages. Its Not my fault if most follow 2 or 3 streamers (and like to pay mirrors for builds instead of thinking on pob by themselves)
Lich and abyssal lich also have so many mechanics, you can build anything on those classes, literally, if you know what you are doing.
Blood mage is just raw power. Crit, leech, raw defense node. But its also really fun to play. An ascendancy can be simple and fun, and blood mage is one of them.
Oracle is in the simple (but strong) team, just like blood mage.
