[0.5.0 22/5/26] Ghost Dance needs just a few more tweaks
|
Currently, Ghost Dance restores an instant 5% of your Evasion as Energy Shield upon expending a Ghost Shroud, recovering Ghost Shrouds on a duration interval. I had gripes about Ghost Dance having the duration tag, especially with how reduced duration played poorly with the rest of the monk's toolkit.
With the new Ghost Dance, it regenerates 2%/s of your Evasion as Energy Shield if you've lost a Ghost Shroud within the past four seconds (up to 8%!), recovering Ghost Shrouds on a cooldown interval longer than the previous duration interval. By making it a cooldown, it no longer has an arbitrary antisynergy with increased duration, and coupled with it restoring potentially more Energy Shield per Shroud as well as the general Evasion increases in 0.5.0, Ghost Dance could've more than made up for the interval increase... ...if it weren't for the lack of a clause that would prevent all your shrouds from being expended by a rapid barrage of hits. Yes, Evasion should, in theory, space out when you lose Ghost Shrouds, especially considering that Evasion uses an entropy system. However, entropy isn't going to space out hits for an entire four seconds, and you're likely going to lose Shrouds in quick succession anyway, especially considering that Ghost Dance relies on a hybrid defense, not pure Evasion. Couple that with the higher Shroud recovery interval, and you end up in situations where your defensive layer has too much downtime because it burns itself out too quickly. Please consider making it so that while the regen's active, Ghost Shrouds can't be needlessly depleted. Sidenote: A cooldown range of 11.7 - 10.1 seconds from lv4 to lv20 feels very lackluster as its progression. Last bumped on May 22, 2026, 4:48:18 PM
