Demon Form Lacking Thematic Potential

I don’t normally post in this feedback thread, as I am typically satisfied or apathetic at the direction of this game, but the Demon Forms' lack of thematic potential has irked me since the game's release, and I hope to speak on it so that someone, somewhere, can read my grievances and contemplate them.

To be succinct on my issues, the Druid shapeshift forms each have a unique skill that only one form can use (e.g., Lunar Blessing OR Walking Calamity), but the Demon Form has no unique skill that a DEMON would have, let alone a mechanic that visually reflects the thematism of being a demon. Yes, the form requires you to give up your life “essence” in exchange for more power (damage), but why should a demon at 1 Demonflame stack be casting the same spells at 100 Demonflame stacks, especially since the spells aren’t any different than what a Human spellcaster would have? And even more so, the gameplay loop is the exact same as though you were playing a human spellcaster, save for the fact that your gear and passive tree are widely different, so why choose the demon form at all?

It’s because it looks and sounds cool.

Also, the Demon Bear shapeshifting unique (Fury of the King) adds a unique skill, but not Demon Form.


I’m going to suggest a skill rework simply because I like thinking about the potential of this game, even if it may take years to be realized.

I would like it if, after picking the first node to give you the Form, you would gain + increased limit to temporary minions, scaling with X amount of demonflame, and enemies killed while in demon form would spawn a raging spirit that deals increased damage depending on your current stacks, while also granting you increased life regen. Even better if the demon-hound were to gain a command skill to detonate all nearby raging spirits to higher levels of damage, the more spirits detonated, at the cost of losing Y amount of demonflame.

As a Demon Form main, I can agree with a lot of the opening post, just not everything.

A total rework isnt necessary. only a few tweks here and there to make it viable for moar diferent builds. I can only think of 2 or 3 existing viable builds, and thats incuding what has been anounced to b new in 0.5. this just wouldnt do.
