Recombinator was good for SSF

Recombinator was my all time favorite tool specially in SSF. stock piling bricked crafts or ground drops with good rolls on them to later use for recombination was a big resource to progress characters in SSF. I know a lot of you trade players dont use it and there for dont appreciate it but out of all the nerfs and changes this one hits me the HARDEST. i made really really good crafts with it. now we lost an entire resource in SSF might as well just play trade now... its already so much harder to get good crafts going in SSF now its so. much. worse. and i truly dont understand the reasoning for this nerf. its HORRIBLE for SSF.

Recombinator removed from patch 0.5 is going to hit hard at least for my crafting. My strategy always was:

1. Find lvl80 bases (like ancestral tiara)
2. then perfect transmute/augment until you get t1 defense roll
3. then recombine two tier1 defense rolls together (about 25% chance)
4. then recombine items with 2xT1 + 1xT1 defense rolls (6.9% chance, x2 with omen)
5. then you have item with 3x tier1 defense roll
6. After that you could double slam p.exalt and hope for something good and desecrate the last one

I've made fortune doing that in each league with helmets/bodyarmours

Now in order to get good rolled helm/chest without using expensive crafting omens is going to be tough. Kinda have to use desecrate to get the third t1 roll on prefix

forget about third roll. how do you get to even the 2nd? its just slam and pray now. Also i can not stress enough how bad it feels losing a resource in SSF. its like cutting certain orbs from the game. it feels HORRIBLE. I don't think i will play SSF anymore. gearing up in SSF was already so much harder than in trade. it really makes no sense to me WHY they would nerf it and GGG doesn't even have the decency to explain this. its shameless.

Crafting bis body armour is something like this now:

1. find/buy exceptional chest ilvl82 with 3 sockets
2. get one perfectly rolled T1 def prefix
3. add 2 random nodes and desecration
4. use hinekora's lock until you fracturing orb gets the perfect roll T1 def
--> while checking hinekora results also check overquality (up to 30%)
5. annulment all except 1 random modifier
6. chaos spam until you get another T1 def modifier
7. slam omen of prefix exalt + perfect exalt and hope for the last T1 roll
--> if you dont get it, annulment + more chaos spam and repeat
--> after you succeed you have 3x T1 defense mods as prefixes
8. slam omen of double exalt + perfect exalt and hope for good suffixes
--> if you get bad ones, you can use omen of crystallized suffix + essence of abyss, then desecrate mark of the abyssal lord and use omen of light to remove them
--> keep doing that until you find 2 good suffixes you need
9. third suffix you can just desecrate unlimited times with omen of light repeat
10. finish quality with hinekora's locks until 30%
11. divine spam until good rolls on everything
12. hinekoras lock to test if you get 4th socket on corruption or sanctification
--> repeat until you do
13. done. -7 mirrors worth of currency :D


Only really doable in trade.

on a serious note though: Yeah its even in SSF gonna involve fracturing and chaos spamming which lets be real is just unrealistic. you can farm chaos orbs in temple of chaos but to do that you sacrifice farming anything else because lets be real temple of chaos rewards (besides a few augments and some 1% drop chance adorned) are horrible.

It honestly feels like GGG is going out of their way to discourage ppl from playing SSF.

I'm hoping that there's going to be some serious crafting additions through runes in the league mechanic.

Otherwise this is a pretty serious blow to ssf crafting capability.

Not all my weapons started from the recombinator, however, all my best weapons did.

Landing double decent prefix as a starting point is tough. Recomb made it feel like a statistical certainty that you'd get there eventually.

Really hoping for some league crafting mechanics to substitute here. I hope we aren't back to "slam + pray" as the only viable upgrade path once we've got our t1/t2 IPD + greater abrasion + perfect battle weapon in hand.

I'm hoping too, but that "CANNOT BE REMOVED OR REPLACED" on the meta craft runes has me concerned.

Using a "cannot be removed or replaced" rune on a weapon is straight up a bad idea in ssf. Almost all the time. It would need to add a seriously huge benefit.

Aside from losing the obvious offensive potential from runes, you also lose the opportunity to throw a leech rune in your weapon socket. That places a lot of extra constraint on the ability to upgrade/switch out gloves and rings if you don't have the leech affix you need on the weapon itself.

It's one of those capabilities you take for granted but if you were required to sacrifice it in order to craft a decent weapon it's just extra pain on top of not being able to put offensive runes in your weapon lol. Maintaining flexibility in ssf is just really important until deep into lategame when you've got a good stash of gear to mitigate bad gambling outcomes.

I don't think that would be how they solve it - if they are solving it.

I am just gonna assume that lucky fracture + chaos spam is gonna be the next best method until I see otherwise.

I blew all of my ssf chaos orbs this league doing that on an amulet and I never even hit what I wanted - I just eventually gave up and yolo-crafted it to something halfway decent and never used it. It's gonna be rough lol.

The cannot be removed mod makes sense for the jewel craft imo. For the chronomancy boot mods, eh - that is a bit specialized, on top of needing to be lucky. Probably going to be a relatively rare rune.
