Power Creep

First off I would like to say that somehow GGG always makes it so we are SOOOOOO PUMPED for the new patches, they are always happy to delve into the *shrug, lets just roll with it". Love it. Thanks GGG.

The only thing (if it is a thing) is power creep. Since launch of day one of early access which was awesome as it was so meaniginful and difficult, there has just been buff after buff after buff. Items drop rates, gear, abilities passives, you name it. Now we can tame BOSSES. (Totally cool btw, just worried about the power creep).

Is this a problem or will the game just scale into more and more difficulty (ie the play it your way game philosophy, which kinda works, but not for the campaign).

The juice it up way works but we are now making a game that trivialises the campaign and game wont get hard until later end game.

If you have played Last Epoch (a good enough game, but with a fatal flaw) you will understand this well - the game is so insanely easy, any build, any ability all just stomp everything. You have to slog your way DEEP into endgame for any challenge at all.

Anyway thought I would shine a light on this, I am so pumped for the expansion, so deeply grateful GGG, thank you!

For me even pre 0.5 insane end game expansion campaign was always only a chore, something you have to do in order to get to the real start point of the game.

Dont mind it beeing trivilised more.


Also campaing beeing super hard, requiring super extensive know how, ready builds etc to not sruggle with it could become big deterent for a new or casual player.



If i remember Q&A after annoucment correctly, Gs talked something about 0.5 we adding bunch of stuff and not focusing on balance super hard, 0.5 role is to figure that balance out for full release.


Wouldnt be suprised if we get multiple cursed su*k on CoC'k builds in 0.5

They have purposely made the campaign easier in response to complaints

Most big changes only affect later game drops or crafting in a meaningful way so they don't make the campaign wildly easier. You're not totally wrong but the differences so far are much more due to deliberate campaign nerfs in response to complaints than power creep.

I might be wrong but I think they made the poe1 campaign harder at one point so that may not be completely outside the bounds of their consideration if your fears end up fully realized.
