Make Chronomancer's Time Freeze Pause Own Buffs
|
Time freeze is neat. I think the power fantasy is good. However... nearly every class can time freeze. It's called deleting the mob packs and bosses off the game in seconds.
Because why would you time freeze when you can delete the boss. More so when in order to properly use this skill you have to scale skill duration. More so during mapping where sure... sure. You do freeze the pack but as you move, the freeze isn't global. Meaning you will get overwhelmed and possibly die because you're chronomancer. My proposition is simple: Add utility in form of "pausing" buff durations on Chronomancer as long as time freeze is active. It plays into the class fantasy really well too. Let's say you have elemental archon active. Relatively harder buff to maintain because it activates, then goes on a cooldown. Not that great for mapping as you lose your uptime by just moving from pack to pack. Time freeze has a similar issue. You freeze one pack. Then you have a giganic windows where you don't have your main utility active for next pack. So why not add the utility of freezing buff durations. Make it so for this duration charges, remnants, general buffs like one from Sands of Time don't expire. Instead they are paused as long as you can maintain your time freeze. It really opens up a new way to play for chronomancers and makes Time freeze a build-around skill. Last bumped on May 19, 2026, 11:55:40 AM

Make it pause time freeze duration as well:)
Seriously though, this skill is very underbaked. Rare mob effects applied as passive buffs (like shroud teleporting) work during "time freeze" like nothing happened. Bosses frozen in the middle of attack animation resume the attack like nothing happened, sometimes even leading to visual desync and "ghost damage". The whole point of time freeze is to counter those oneshot moves GGG loves so much. Moreover, such impactful skill should have clear visual effects for radius, duration, and who is affected. GGG has it backwards: basic skills drown your screen in particles while supposed ultimate skill is almost invisible. By the time my party member saw that I cast time freeze, half duration had already passed. |

" For me the thing is that it's a skill that in its base has a 3 second duration. Yet if you'd want to use it again, it's half as effective. All the while there's builds in the game that clear entire screens with a no cooldown skill. And in order to make it last longer, you'd need to dedicate significant amount of your ascendancy pathing. On top of the fact that during mapping, which is 80% of the game content, it doesn't do anything really. Doesn't even cover the entire screen. And once you do use it, you're out for next 30ish seconds. That's why I want to suggest the buff pause. Say you for example have a fire elemental conflux active. You pop your archon, you time freeze. Now you as chronomancer, who is known for lacking damage, is able to to sustain both archon and fire elemental conflux on itself and do damage. Even after you've killed the pack on the map. Hell, maybe even keep an uptime for time freeze. Certainly isn't as OP as most the good builds out there. |
