New Steam Controller Support Needed

I would like to bind certain things to the track pads, Passive Tree, Atlas, Portal, ext.. The problem is it thinks the dpads are the track pads. Can someone confirm they are having issues. I also can't open the inventory while playing? Is this a bug or something? After almost 800 hours on mouse and keyboard, I dont know how controller people handle this game, The inventory management alone is a nightmare. I wonder if GGG plays with a controller.

Also, why can I not use the keyboard with the controller. This would make binding stuff 100x easier. As of right now, there is really no advantage for using it. Might as well be an xbox controller.

There is little advantage to using it at the moment. Shockingly the game was not designed to take full advantage of a controller that didn't exist when they started making it.

If they ever fix whatever weird issue they have with letting players use a controller and kb+m at the same time and jump back and forth between the two without logging out it will get better, but I imagine the track pad will still be used as a mouse. TO keybind something to it you'd likely need to use the stream controller bindings possibly along with something like joy2key.

Stop using the controller in the game as a controller, use it like a keyboard and mouse. Steam input lets you map literally anything to anything. So my left stick is wasd, right is mouse/so is right track pad. Left click on a and so on.

It's very playable as is it just takes a bit of tinkering. The entire selling point of steam controller is it's customisable. You're using it like any other gamepad when it's capable of more without a game developing around its existence. You can just map whatever you mouse and kb binds are to the controller in any way you like with steam input. Use it.
