Crossbow skills overhaul ideas:

What do you guys think about the following changes:


Fragmentation rounds:

- No longer shatters frozen enemies.
+ Consumes fully broken armour to deal a critical hit.
(thematically, a shotgun is great against soft targets, not hard ones - and boomstick should go BOOM).


REMOVE: Armour piercing rounds (too much overlap in feel to Rapid shot for the LMG playstyle).


NEW SKILL (replacing above):

Trapper Shot:
Ammunition • Attack • AOE • Projectile • Physical • Pin • Duration • Hazard

"Fires a net-shot that opens into a wide cone along its path before anchoring into the ground. Enemies hit by or walk into the net are slowed and receive Pin build-up = 600% of the damage dealt. After 2 seconds the net snaps, dealing a burst of physical damage to enemies that were hit by the net, breaking Armour."


High-velocity rounds:

- Remove Riven armour effect
+ Bolts that hit a Frozen enemies consume the Freeze and cause an explosion (taken from Fragmentation rounds)
(Makes High-velocity rounds a satisfying payoff skill as Riven armour just feels bad to use)


Siege Cascade:

"Load your Crossbow with payload which is fired into the air. On its descent, it splits into 3 bolts. These bolts deal damage on impact and lodge in the ground - exploding after a short delay. 100% more damage against Immobilised enemies"
(This rework has a synergy with multiple projectiles (1 projectile splits into 3, +1 projectile = 6 bolts etc. This change also makes it viable for bossing and for focusing a build around).


Rename: Plasma blast -> Railgun

Crossbows don't need any changes.
Crossbow needs only an of-hand gear. We waited for so long but still ain't gonna happen.

There are multiple cases of skills like this in the game

Why do we 3 variants of armour piercing rounds? We have shockburst rounds, rapid shot, and APR

Same thing with fragmentation round, we also have permafrost bolts and incendiary shot

We should be able to customize skills to become these variants
100% agree.

There should be archetypes:

Charge (single shot, hold to charge)
Bolt action (single shot, high damage)
Semi-auto (magazine, semi automatic ROF)
Auto (magazine, automatic ROF)
Shotgun (pellets & spread)
Grenade (timed explosive)
Hazard (applies effect to ground)
Artillery (Vertical shot, comes down to deal damage)


And then you can tweak these with elemental effects, payoffs etc.

Same lame skills that doesn't worth investing. Even simple crossbow shot is way better.
