How long does it take to beat the campaign?

This has 10 Acts? Thinking of playing this in coop with my brother while we wait on 0.5 of PoE2. We could probably play 15 - 20 hours a week. Also I am really interested in Templar. Are they tanky, or is it like PoE2, where you need to be a master of mechanics to play melee?

"Yes. It can take from 2.5 hours to a week :) "It depends on the build and the defense layers used. Any class can be tanky. |

What's the best site for following builds? I have used maxroll for Diablo because they are really well laid out, but it looks like they don't have tier lists for PoE2 or even PoE1. Ideally I could have a build for leveling then pick from maybe a survival (if I suck at mechanics) or damage (if I do alright) tier-rated build after the campaign.
Oh also does this have guild stashes like PoE2? So all that would transfer over from the guild I have with my brother? Last edited by JamesTheJames#2669 on May 14, 2026, 4:52:42 PM

" Guilds in PoE 1 and 2 are entirely separate, you need to create a new guild in PoE 1. Stashes are not shared between them and would also need to be purchased. Couch Co-op play is also not available in PoE 1. There are build guides on maxroll, poe.ninja and mobalytics, lots of guides on youtube, and a section here on the forum. 😹😹😹😹😹
I do not and will not use TFT. Gaming Granny :D 🐢🐢🐢🪲🪲🪲 @xjjanie.bsky.social |

Does maxroll or poeninja have tier lists for the builds? Also a quick glance at poeninja looks like it isn't so much for leveling builds, but endgame builds based on other people's characters?
So my understanding of PoE1 compared to PoE2 is it is similar in ways, but skills go in equipment instead of a seperate tab, there is no dodge roll (so hopefully no oneshot reflex moves unless a build is glass cannon), and while there are still ascendancy trials they aren't roguelikes like PoE2. Any tips for newcomers that might help us out? I found an old post saying that after clearing Act 10 you want to focus on maxing out resists and getting a lot of life, before doing maps. Also I am just curious, since it's been 10 Acts for a while, are new seasons for this just basic ladder resets like Diablo II usually is? Or do they still do new season mechanics? And I am guessing probably 2 months left in this season? Which should be plenty of time for us to clear campaign if we start tomorrow. |

I've never seen a build tier list for PoE, probably because there's just way too many build possibilities.
If u choose a build guide from maxroll, for example, just read the flavour text of what that build is good at. I think they tell u if it's a "league starter" build, which means is easy to play as ur first character and doesn't need tons of gear. Those builds might fall off at a later point into the endgame tho. I'd suggest u look into something like a Earthshatter Berserker. It's a pretty easy to understand build and quite enjoyable game play imo. As for what to do before entering endgame mapping. As u said pretty much, u want to max out ur resistances at 75% (except chaos, that one is fine at ~0% for starters) and get a decent amount of life so u don't immediately fall over, depending on build 3-3,5k should suffice. Other than that, make sure ur main skill is at least 4 linked with the correct support gems, get all necessary auras and heralds ect., get utility skills like guard and movement skills and link them all up. Experienced players don't do all of that anymore, but they know what they can get away with :) As for leagues, PoE is still the best seasonal ARPG on the market. Maybe the scope of PoE2 leagues are beyond that now, but otherwise u won't find a game that changes more with each new league. So don't worry about it being abandoned and on life support, yet. Also yes, the league is still going for another few months. No one knows for sure when the next one is coming, but it's probably around july/august. " The closest you might get to a "tier list" is looking at poeninja to see how many people ran it/are running it. A helpful feature on poeninja is that, if you select a temporary league to view, you can view past snapshots. It mostly holds weekly snapshots, because things don't change much late into league--but it has daily snapshots for the first week, and a few more snapshots for day 1. The day 1 snapshots are where you'd probably want to look if just looking at what people are doing in campaign. But poeninja just shows what people are doing, and how they're doing it. Other places are better for actual build guides, especially for strategies people may employ where they respec a bit in middle or later levels to better compliment their build after core pieces become available--such as people clearing the first two acts with skills they won't stick with, because their main skill comes in act 3. " I'm not great with tips, but to note on resists: PoE2 gradually increases the resistance penalty with each Act, but PoE1 implements the penalties in two -30% hits, after the Act5 and Act10 bosses. For the first 5 acts, you probably won't hurt too much even if you ignore resists (unless you're in HC, and can't afford deaths). Starting with Act 6, resists get a lot more important. Your base resists drop to -30% while monster elemental damage also starts scaling more with the assumption that you have resists built. I think midway through Act 2 you can setup a Hideout? And in your Hideout, you can use the crafting bench to add a modifier to your gear; you can use this occasionally to fill in stats you're missing, like resists. |

people can speed run the acts in less than 10hr. if you ask for gear in some channel in Standard (or at trade league at league end), you can do that too

It's our first time doing campaign so we are slowpoking it. It took about 4 hours to get a bit further than killing Brutus. So far it seems more accessible than PoE2, like no major damage spikes or oneshots so far. But I also know we aren't very far in at all. I am debating getting guild stash tabs for PoE1, but we have some of those in PoE2, and then barely play the endgame there. So might wait til next sale, once we know if we are going to do endgame or not. It depends how much of a wall we hit when we get there. And how punishing it gets. The XP loss on death, I think they like it cuz Diablo II had it, and these games seem to take a lot of influence from Diablo II. But it does make it less motivating to play endgame, if you just start being stuck at not gaining XP for a while cuz you are at a wall until you re-gear or maybe even respec or whatever.
Thanks for the responses so far. Also, it is a little odd. The game looks maybe as good as PoE2 does. So it must've gotten some major visual updates over the years. But it's never made my GPU fans turn on more than low, or made my CPU temps spike to almost thermal limit. PoE2 makes my GPU fans go maxed out pretty frequently and in towns when it is doing shaders, lol I had to change my case fan curve, cuz it always made my CPU get super hot (and only PoE2). Hopefully PoE2 gets some more optimization with 0.5. It's nice having a cooler quieter machine. Last edited by JamesTheJames#2669 on May 16, 2026, 2:14:15 PM

" it is more a blind run issue. Brutus is a boss that so early in act 1. (despite it reworked and now chase you our of the boss arena) You can watch old video of how people play the whole game to know which quest by which quest (getting which quest need to be done first may tricky in POE 1) This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee.
