Please allow solo players to gain team loot Bonus in 0.5
|
Threads discussing party loot and rewards have been trending over the past couple of days, but most opinions lean toward either nerfing party play or keeping it exactly as is. I was thinking: why not let everyone benefit from party loot bonuses?
This could be achieved with a simple toggle option. Solo players could just check a box to simulate the difficulty and loot drops of an n-player party. Of course, without the auras and DPS contributions from actual teammates, it would be extremely difficult for a solo player to handle the difficulty scaling of a large party. So, why not introduce a simplified version of the PoE1 mercenary system into PoE2? We wouldn't need to gear these mercenaries up, and they wouldn't need any flashy skills. They wouldn't even need to be humanoid—they could just be a "wooden dummy" or simple companion that follows the player around, providing basic auras or Item Rarity. Naturally, since they aren't real players, the buffs they provide would be weaker than those from an actual teammate. The ideal end result: A solo player's overall profit could roughly match the average individual cut of a player in an MF party. Alternatively, if implementing a mercenary/follower system is too much trouble, the game could simply reduce the n-player difficulty scaling for solo players who opt-in, while keeping the loot rewards the same or only slightly lower. If implementing a mercenary system is out of the question, simply adding a toggle option and doing some basic number tweaking shouldn't require too much development effort. Boss-exclusive loot table is not affected by rarity, nor party bonus.
So Party play is better only for Raw Currency (rarity) or white bases (negative rarity) farming. Temple snake is perfect suit for that, and it is pretty much the only content that's "better" for a group. Temple can be utilized by a solo to farm Atziri too btw. So, as a solo, you farm Boss-exclusive items instead of farming raw currency/white bases. Groups inflating the Currency value are effectively increasing the value of items from Boss-exclusive loot tables, which is balancing the issue. Also - more divs in the pool - more you can actually use them to roll mods on an item instead of stockpiling for a buy. Issue exists only for those who watch streamers instead of playing the game on their own. Combat Balance > Feelings
