Stop the rune clutter, make a rune bench to create all runes arrived from a small subset of runes.

Have a rune bench which can create 500+ types or runes based on 20 runes that enemies can drop, for example, rock and water creates an erosion rune, and rock water plant create nature rune, lighting and water rune creates a storm rune, and so on

No more lesser, normal, greater, make different names while at the same time not cluttering everything, you go to your bench, select which runes to create and slot them, super easy.

If you are able to put 7 runes, with 20 unique runes you could already create 20^7 runes which is more than 1 billion runes, of course they would want to create them tematically, the same way they said this league mechanic runes are tematic, so it would be less, but 1 billion is a lot, this would condense rune drops so so so much forever.

My idea came from a podcast with darth, the only thing I want to add is that unlike him I dont think putting exalts or divines into recipes to be helpful, just make runes able to create other runes, it is thematic, it is fun, it is simple and it stop clutter, you can be really really really exited when some runes drop more than with this system.

Also the simple thing about these runes is have them lvl limits so a lvl 1 character cant create a hugely op rune, have most or all of them unlocked and maps, and thats kinda it, for idols make it an idol rune + other runes, for other types of runes just do the same, go from one base and add other runes to arrive at all of them.

I think that adds just another step to the process. The current system (with those blue stone thingys in new expedition) already let you craft runes, just from a given selection (depending on the stone you find). You just take the best one for you, and if theres none, bad luck. No need to know every rune (especially in SSF) - if you dont have it, dont care. As for trade, you can just search your base item since a lot of runes just work for one kind of item (from the trailer stuff).

The only thing I fear is that inventory space will be annoying to manage with that many runes and nothing like Last Epochs "Send fragments to stash"
With the league mechanic you dont need anything in your inventory, but it also isnt a rune crafter, it will be a multipurpose thing that you do once in a while, like for example get a lvl 18 gem, get a rare amulet, get a exalt, get an unique, and then you select one of these, they might be useful to get some runes, specially the new runes they say they are adding, but it wont cover everything, and you still have the problem of having 300+ dropable runes that you have to organize.

Instead you could have a bench where you could type fire res, and autocompelte with these 20 unique runes, which would be much better imo.
Yea, I dont really have a issue with having all those runes. I mean stash tabs are kinda mandatory if you play more anyway and as long as we have a filter/search method its fine for me.

One thing the current system has is more control of the rune rarity for them. Since theyd need kind of more "rune shards" to control this well.

The issue is picking them up, if they autolooted and went to your stash tab automatically, I wouldnt mind, but they dont.

With a controller it is pretty difficult to click un runes and all that to have something useless, meanwhile if you had to use combinations, every rune you picked would be useful.

Never played console, so I dont have that issue ig... But I can imagine it sucks
Needing recipe combo to craft the rune just means another layer of complexity vs drop thing use thing. I get why they like the runes.
The recipes would be automatic similar to the league's mechanic
I started playing PoE2 the day it launched. I still don't really know how or when to use all the currencies and omens and essences. It seems needlessly complicated. I shouldn't have to go to a third party outside the game to figure things out.

I have a similar problem with runes, but not as much. Mostly I just slot runes to solve resistances or attribute problems. If I don't have those problems currently, I just slot in more defenses in my gear and more damage in my weapons, so mostly just iron runes. They already have souls cores and idols. I don't use those because they're too rare and seem too valuable, and I don't really know when I should use them over iron runes. I tend to just sell them. Now we're getting like 150 new runes? Why? I can only use so many at once and I'm already using the tried and true ones. I'll probably just sell these too. I feel like it's complicated just for the sake of "depth" that doesn't really matter.

Rune crafter sounds like a neat idea to eliminate a bunch of drops down into something easier to learn.
Yeah same, I havent really used much omens cause the most I played was 0.1 and omens was unavailable at all unless you were hyper rich, same with expensive runes.

I dont understand why we need 300+ rune drops if any given person uses 10, now they have anounced runes similar to things that you can do in poe 1 bench, like runes you want to pop in, use a chaos, then pop the rune out,etc... And with the league's mechanic introducing something similar, it would be the perfect oportunity to simple it down.

On reddit some people said to have blank runes with rarity 1-5, but I really dont want another list just like the one we have with support gems, in which you need to read for like 20 minutes just to be able to read all of them, and for runes it is also equipment specific.

So a bench where you select which equipment type and then have multiple categories of organization, like elemental res, elemental damage, etc... search by categories, autocomplete the rune requirement and get the runes you want, it really would be so much easier.
