Is this harder or easier (overall) than PoE2?

Does melee have more n00b friendly survivability in this (due to not needing to master dodge rolling)?

I know it has Trials too, yes you can overlevel them in PoE2 but the endgame ones are still sweat mode, is that the case here as well?

How punishing is the xp loss on death at high level (does it kick in around 70 like PoE2) compared to PoE2?

Only played this a tiny bit when it was new, have a bunch of stuff (stash tabs and cosmetics) accumulated from playing PoE2 so thinking of giving this a try.

POE 1 much harder than POE 2 in all aspects (Endgame farm, Bosses/even map bosses, Crafting ect...)
doesn't matter mele or ranged.
Exp lose same as POE 2 -10%.
POE 2 "last boss" Pinnacle Boss: Arbiter of Ash is a joke from GGG vs POE 1 uber bosses

play time POE 1 (last two season) (913 h)
So far campaign at least definitely seems easier than PoE2 campaign. There don't seem to be any oneshots if you keep up with gear. PoE2 did get easier after you could buy gear ingame through the merchant tab system (for the more casual players at least) instead of having to wait for someone to be online to do a trade, but there are still some enemies (like that gorilla in the jungle) that can oneshot. This so far we've not only not been eating oneshots but we're also melting everything. Templar is a lot of fun! I am doing the holy flame totem build. Looking forward to them coming to PoE2.

We are also just starting Act 9 now, I am not doubting you that high tier endgame is harder than PoE2... PoE2 is also getting that endgame streamlining with 0.5 which might make that even easier. Maybe entry to mid-level PoE1 mapping will be easier than what our experience was with PoE2 during 0.4, where we just got to high 70s and bailed. Maybe tier 5 - 8 maps at most then.
POE 1 is easy because people have mastered the game and quickly made new build in new league

At the same time due to dps inflation, devs also tuned the monsters to tank meta build's dps. So that old 3.0 build in 3.28, is brutal .


At the same time POE 1 is still relatively more simple . No extra item mod required for AOE damage, no red indicator. Just Defence, Dodge, Spell suppression, block, damage taken as, ailment/debuff management, are all need to learn for defensive layer.
