POE 2 application disconnects me from the internet [Steam and GGG client affected]
|
I had taken a break from poe2 for a couple months and decided to hop back in to practice levelling a monk for 0.5.
I checked the steam client version was updated and tried to log in however I am only able to reach the 'log in' screen and unable to log in because it never loads/connects to the server. The GGG advert/update box also is empty with pale blue text saying 'downloading'. My ping was reading as 0 which I thought was odd. I then realised that although my PC was still connected to my Wi-Fi signal it was disconnected from the internet, and tabbing out of the POE2 application all of my other web pages now read as disconnected and my task manager identified that although I was still on the Wi-Fi network the internet was disconnected. My phone and console were still connected and internet was functioning normally, it was just my PC. I closed the POE 2 application and instantly was re-connected to the internet. I verified the games cache in steam and it was 100% and I tried again. Once again I was instantly disconnected from the internet. I turned off my PC and restarted the game, re-checked for updates in steam and re-verified the cache before trying again. Again I was immediately disconnected from the internet the moment the POE2 application began to run. At this point I turned to the GGG/native client. I hadn't updated that client since the 0.3 league so it had a large update to install. Once that update was installed I opened the client and it too immediately disconnected me from the internet the moment the POE2 application began to run. I was playing POE2 for the first month of 0.4 with no issues, I am not sure what has changed since. No other application on my PC is doing this and my internet is otherwise functioning normally. So I went to get a screenshot and a funny thing happened. When I tried to hit screenshot on my keyboard it kept minimising the application. I then decided to use the option to change from Fullscreen to borderless window mode. That caused the screen to completely glitch out and revert to fullscreen mode but in doing so it allowed the countdown to update from the 0.4 league banner to the new countdown and it loaded the adverts in the bottom right. However I am still stuck here and it still disconnects my internet so it has not fixed the issue despite changing the screen.

I don't have much in way of suggestions or any real idea what's going on, but if you're on wifi I would go hardline and you could try going into the CMD and typing ipconfig /flushdns then ipconfig /renew. Might help you.

" Yeah a hardline is unfortunately not a super realistic option at this time. Besides the problem isn't the Wi-FI connection, the computer can still read and connect to the wi-fi signal/router, its the internet connection itself that fails while the application is running. |
