Is POE2 Going to Inherit Problems from POE1?

First off, I'm very excited for next league and feel great about a lot of the endgame changes.

I just had this thought about the new league that I wanted to run by some of the more veteran players. I played my first POE1 league recently and a lot of the atlas quests felt tedious to me. Having a quest objective on the right side of the screen keeps me moving early game, but after a while I was thinking; 'when can I finish earning these atlas passives and farm what I want to farm?'

If the new league requires completing all the new quests to finish the atlas, I could see that becoming tedious after a couple leagues. What do you think?

I saw that GGG has concern for balancing the experience between veteran and first-time players, and I get that. They did mention in the reveal that there will be a mechanic to move through the main atlas quest more quickly by completing certain maps. Hopefully that mechanic extends to the other quests too.

I believe the quests for the league mechanics are pretty much just doing the full scope of each mechanic for the first time but with a narrative guide. And each mechanic still has its own isolated atlas tree so if you don't farm a mechanic you dont enjoy there's no net bonus lost across the board.

As for filling out the main part of the atlas tree/farming what you want, I dont know how impactful the nodes are but the overall benefit per point should taper off as we get closer and closer to maxxing it out. It may be possible to grab every relevant node for a preferred strategy with only 70% of the atlas points and the rest going to whatever is left. eg, making a bossing + ritual + shrines focused atlas tree can skip strongbox/wisp nodes until there's nothing left to pick.

Everything becomes tedious with enough repitition and after 7-8 leagues in poe1 grabbing the first 60-70pts atlas points can feel like a drag, but the more I learn about the game the faster/easier I get those points. GGG does try to keep things fresh by rotating maps in/out for each league and changing what bosses gives points.
