Could swift play be a thing in ARPG's
|
been thinking about it... I don't think it's possible to make an arpg that truly satisfies the average player.... in the sense that most average players want to experience end game at the same level that streamers for example are able to.... but there is no way to provide this without ruining the game for all the advanced players.
enter swift play. redesign the pace of the game to allow you to reach any build you want and experience crafring like belton... but have it be on a separate server in agame mode where it's a single session. every time you log off you lose your character. make it like 4-6 hours total to max out everything. this would provide a fun new game mode for people to test builds, and for casuals to experience the full game, while preserving the integrity and need for the original game modes. How would that be for casuals at all? Isn't casual someone who plays every now and then and probably reaches the end of the campaign in a week or two?
Also this would be a nightmare in a game with random disconnects. |

well the idea would be that you could have One gaming session on like a Saturday or something and be able to experience the full game... I guess they could offer this with multiple different formats. one where you do the campaign and end game one where you just craft one where you start in endgame with a max level character and all the currency and bases to craft. ... they could implement it however they wanted really.
they could probably charge people 10-20 bucks for access as well. I would pay it to be able to go HAM for a day whenever I wanted and not have to invest a significant amount of my time. I think a mod like this would keep a lot of people coming back that wouldn't normally play past lvl 80 or so I. the first month or two of the season, and push build creativity since more people would have the opportunity to try stuff out and be creative. also I'm sure they can figure out how to solve the d/c problem.... but also it wouldn't even really matter that much if they allow you to play all those different aforementioned game modes. you could start over again or just restart at endgame, or they could literally let you start at any level with any twink build... or in any challenge situation you wanted to create for yourself. .. would be a gift from heaven for content creators to be able to take a break from their main characters and run wonky build challenges or races. Of all the streamers you could have mentioned., you mention the one guy that doesn't actually play the game himself and has like 35 viewers on average. lmao
swift mode with crafting sounds kind of meh, i think the game you are looking for is diablo 3, only that 3-6 hours are basicly one weekend, so a casual has to at least commit for that long, but can pick up the game wherever they left. the endgame mirror crafting lopp for 0,00001% isn't whats it's all about anyways. Getting somewhere in hc ssf like the godghamer himself or several gauntlet regulars who are not as good as the godgamer himself but pretty close. It's all about hc ssf everything else basicly doesn't count anyways Last edited by Strickl3r#3809 on May 11, 2026, 2:52:46 PM
