I'm concerned with the new Companions, and the state of minions in general.

As someone who enjoys the minion archetype, i'm concerned with the new boss companions. Either they will be extremely busted, or they will just be massive bosses that clutter the screen and lead to your death as a result of poorly telegraphed death effects.

Secondly, my biggest concern, is that I'm worried that the best way to play them will be infernal legion.

Infernal Legion is already extremely powerful. There are a few variants of this build just absolutely demolishing pinnacle bosses utilizing high health pull pets, weapon swapping tech that makes them do extremely high damage for free, or the variants that spec into the minion defensive nodes to give them max fire res to handle the downside entirely.

Some boss enemies are already equipped with massive health pools and innate fire resistances so hitting max fire res on them would not be difficult given most of this is achieved on the witch/sorc side of the tree.

I will admit, playing infernal legion minions was incredibly fun to me, and it was satisfying getting it to work and watching the screen burn with pet RFs. However, the entire identity of the companions feels as if they're meant to be a singular powerful minion that either complements your power, or itself, doing a massive amount of the heavy lifting.

When companions were introduced to the ranger/amazon side of the tree, i was excited because i want there to be this "hunter" archetype, where you are running around with a bow and a companion.

Currently, without additional changes to companions, not just the 300% damage, the support for ranged skills and companions aren't exactly a thing outside of the roa to squeeze in free damage for yourself, with low investment, other than passive tree points.

I want to believe that this will make them good, outside of infernal legion but i'm not optimistic about how GGG has handled minions in poe2. As it stands, minions in poe2 are tragic and unfun compared to minion characters in other games. Their AI is broken half the time, they're slow, to the point where any regular character clears much faster than them, and currently Bones of Ullr are too mandatory, too powerful, and too punishing. The movement speed loss is too massive compared to the power and speed of other classes, significantly reducing their clear potential.

I'm concerned that the boss AI for these pets looks cool and will feel impactful, but the clear will be exhaustingly slow when used as a companion. After all, these bosses are designed for players to avoid their attacks, they have semi slow attacks on sizeable cooldowns filled with auto attacks that aren't designed to kill players with reasonable defenses.

I'm not saying i want the boss companions to be overpowered, i want them to be good. I want to feel like i want to play them, and just have fun doing my own thing while the boss just goes on a rampage. However, I'm just worried that something somewhere will make them bad to use from a day to day and that they will end up not being strong, or become meta specifically for infernal legion.

Seeing how Jonathan in particular hates minion builds, I would not expect much from them on that front. The boss minions will just be an oversized hunk of meat that will do a special attack once in a while.
