Infinite Atlas and game complexity - biggest downsides
|
It seems such a missed opportunity, in my opinion, that devs did not move away from Infinite Atlas and continued to stay on this path. We`ll always have navigation difficulty and pointless mapping (even with all the new implementation).
Moreover, games seems to get more and more complex, closing the door for new players once and for all. Sad.. (POE2 should not be POE1.5, GGG, keep it slower, more tactical) Last bumped on May 11, 2026, 10:12:13 AM

" It's still early to make judgements. The onboarding of new players is a concern, but there's no need to make judgements now... They have introduced new quests aiming at this, and honestly it seems more coherent now. Complexity is irrelevant, subjective and overrated. Honestly, I do managed my expectations and hardly hype myself... The true question for me, isn't about onboarding or complexity, but instead, it's all about how long will take until all it's broken like 0.4. That for me is the true test, and the size of the patch is very concerning about that. |

I played PoE1 before 1.0, back with reflect mobs and the introduction of ascendancies and all that. It was difficult and rewarding. I tried to pick it back up 2 months ago and rolled straight through Act 5 solo with no deaths. It was sad how they nerfed it and there seemeed to be endless new crafting mechanics to make ground loot totally worthless.
I jumped over to PoE2 because it was described as harder and they'd said they wanted ground loot to be valuable and have meaning. I started in .4 wondering wtf they meant since picking up rares was a total waste of time, even tiered rares were trash compared to whites or blues. Now with the Genesis Tree and unique bases you can only get by playing the slot machine... everything they do makes ground loot more and more worthless. It's an ARPG. I want to stab shit, pick up loot, ID it, and go "Oh, SWEET!" The complexity and lack of in game explanations for virtually anything were already becoming an issue before this. Get 3 infusions, 3 charges, 47 glory, and 85 Spirit to summon a thunder totem that lives for 2 seconds, 1 extra second per extra charge expended, blah, blah. As someone coming in to the game over and over I thought "Wtf is Glory? How do I get that?" Now charges, infusions, remnants, glory, honor, divine sharts... the game doesn't explain any of this shit. |

" I am not the long time vet, I started playing on Settlers of Kalgur in PoE1, and been around on 2 since the start. My advice is don't try to understand everything... For many there's already some parallels to PoE1, others will be in your position, confused. The worst thing you can do is give face value to a lot of things that are said here, this forums are way too focused on the negative side of things, which won't help you. Focus on a goal you believe you can achieve this league and go for it, ignore the noise. |

" Everything is subjective after all. I don`t mind complexity that much (only the trend worries me, which could lead to a very tedious complex game). What bothers me the most is the Infinite Atlas. That`s all. (POE2 should not be POE1.5, GGG, keep it slower, more tactical)
