You Should Not Call Content Release Before 1.X an "Expansion"

The tag may not show it but I was a supporter of PoE1 and GGG during its early life in development on my other account.

As someone who got a taste of PoE2 during its release week to test out the new and exciting world of Wraeclast then is now waiting patiently for PoE2 1.X release date... I'm confused why call something I already paid for an "Expansion" when its really not?. It's misleading and untrue.

The "Return of the Ancients" isn't an "Expansion" and should be clarified as such. When we're talking about the word expansion in ARPG term content distribution we're referring to new downloadable content that the player has not paid for or isn't entitled to. I paid and supported GGG for Path of Exile 2 1.X to be in development and everything within that 1.X package. Everything in that package I know my money contributed to and I am entitled to that content. The "Return of the Ancients" IS NOT AN EXPANSION.

DON'T LIE OR DECEIVE NEW COMMERS INTO PLAYING THE GAME. THAT IS NOT WHAT GGG IS ABOUT AND THAT'S NOT WHAT I SUPPORT.

That's just how GGG calls all the larger patches.

It's POE1 forum and your post doesn't make any sense. All expansions in POE1/2 are free, you're just supporting developers if you're willing to do so.
Why are you making such a huge deal out of yourself? A lot of people support the game, including me. You're not special.
Also, they can call every patch an expansion if they want to.
but.. it is an expansion

The sailent point is not a matter of when, but a matter of what.

For example: if the expansion revolved entirely around the addition of the Monk / Martial Artist & Huntress / Spirit Walker ascendancy classes, then sure - I would agree with you. Contributing towards the base game being finished and complete does not an expansion make.

But, by way of counterexample - if GGG had not previously described PoE 2 1.0 as having Kalguuran runecrafting / skills, forsaken maps / the fortress, and Atlas Masters then why would it matter whether such expansion content gets released prior to 1.0, after 1.0, or at the same time as 1.0?

That GGG chooses to implement expansion content and base game content alongside one another - regardless of whether you consider this ethically correct - does not change whether expansion content is, well, expansion content. Don't get me wrong - I am open to a discussion on whether it would be preferable for GGG to focus on the likes of releasing missing weapon types (e.g. swords), missing ascendancy classes, and other 'base game' content prior to having people work on other things. I'm also open to a discussion about GGG's ideas on project management more generally.

The game is GGG's creation. It is their prerogative to decide which skills, features, and bosses are considered to be part of the base game, and which are thematically part of an expansion.

There is a legitimate discussion to be had about whether GGG owes it to the game / community / supporter pack owners / shareholders to worry about fulfilling existing promises before, in true GGG fashion, scope-creeping their way into new commitments. You dilute and distract from such a point when you descend into a battle of semantics which is ultimately neither here nor there.

Semantics.

Words are the means meaning; however, in this instance, they are irrelevant.

Why is someone arguing about semantics on the wrong forum? I would understand if it was at least in the right forum and put some effort into the bait, but this is silly, especially when they didn't take the time to find the correct forum.

they call every single new league since Delve as expansion

It is ad fatigue, so that it will be very oops that POE 2 1.0 is a smaller patch than 0.5
