The trials are still just terrible and WILL alienate players on 1.0 launch, as they already have during early access but at a higher rate.
Them being RNG-fests and also the nature of one being "don't get hit" in an ARPG where builds like thorns are a thing is just TERRIBLE design and WILL bite this game in the ass to some degree. They really need to change them at least at the base level for the mandatory clear aspect. Why are any players, especially new ones, being massively punished and having their time wasted during the campaign for RNG nonsense mechanics for instance? This makes no sense at all. Change. The. Trials. It's just the smart thing to do before 1.0 and let's be real, nobody is REALLY going to be pissed about losing the trials the way they are. Could not agree more. They are the main reason I haven't played in over a year. If they just completely reworked the trials, added the remaining classes, weapons and parts of campaign, I might consider giving the game a try.
