I can't craft on item that clearly has space for mods

I cannot craft anything on this item, but as visible on screenshot, there is both prefix and suffix open.
So I think this must be a bug:

I can get 6 mods on this item for example by using Horticrafting (and the current 4 mods are result of horticraft).
I can craft other items normally, so there must by something with this item?

The fractured mod is a crafted mod. Its a bit tough to tell with the fractured graphic.

So you already have a crafted mod.
Ohhhh, OK, I did not see that, I understand now.
But also, I never expected that, because it makes no sense, it's contradictory.

IMO, such mod is just BAD for game, because it enables a 'trade scam' where you buy item for the same price as other similar items, but in reality the item is almost worthless.

If this is intended behavior, then the thread can be closed, but I still think its a bug, in how the game presents the item 'state'.
Its not a bug but they could make the graphic a bit more noticeable that its crafted. Also the modifier name will give away the fact that its crafted or you can do a trade search for items without crafted modifiers or fractured modifiers as well.

In this case, that fractured mod was what I wanted (except the 'crafted' part).
Yes, there is a filter to hide crafted items, but as I understand, it hides ALL items with crafted mods - so it will also hide desirable items.

And even if there was an exact filter for this, a player would still have to know beforehand, that this is an potentially unwanted mod.

But I can bet, this is just too uncommon to be fixed, and probably a result of some ancient code and nobody has the courage (time) to touch it.

Again, the thread can be closed.
Thanks for the help and explanations.

The Fracturing Orb was only added recently, and people using it on items they later sell isn't a bug.

Grinding Gear Games was founded in 2006.

If, in that context, you would characterise a Fracturing Orb as being "some ancient code", then you and I have a fundamental difference of views which could make for an interesting discussion.

On the other hand, if you saw me clarify to OP the likely mechanic they were likely unaware of with a wiki link and a brief clarification that it was not, in fact, some bit of code from way-back-when and decided to drop in with a 'well ackshually' post that serves no other purpose because you want to argue semantics of the word recently - hey, feel free to continue the debate - but I'd appreciate not receiving any further notifications about it. Thanks in advance.

Before the Orb. Harvest crafting can fracture mod , and it is introduced in 3.11 and went to core in 3.13.

3.11 is 2020 or 6 years ago
