PoE 1 PC servers are restarting now. They should be back up in approximately .

Should the game be "more online" - Coop etc.

I am a new player and I understand these might be fighting words but...

Path of Exile is being described and advertised everywhere as an "online" game, but I feel this is rather deceiving. I recently reached the endgame and I was like, okay, but where are the other players? Where is the content I can do with other players? But apparently, this is it.

Like, the main and most influential "multiplayer" feature is trade. Which until relatively recently was literally being conducted, outside the game(!) on the trade website or that discord server.

Sure you can coop, but there is literally zero content or reason to do so. I can comfortably clear juiced T16 maps with my homebrewed build, which apparently is the most difficult endgame content. Sure coop could speed it up a bit, but it's already fast enough solo.

And sure there is global chat, which I turned on after finishing the campaign, but like last night for example it was mainly a bunch of dudes talking about feet, gay sex and beating wives (no joke).

Would you like to see more content actually requiring coop and communication or being in guilds etc? Or have mmo-esque global hubs where you have to be to do your business instead of every player being hidden in their hideouts? I think this could also help with retention and people sticking around more (thus $$$ for GGG) instead of joining for each new league and bailing out once done.

I'm pretty sure that swapping to HC will make more sense and reason to coop

The thing you say about what you saw in global, well, i heard in SC there's literally 90% of all they talk about there

Give a HC a try, maybe you'll enjoy it more, if you seek meaningful gameplay and worthwhile activity
Being a new player you likely have not seen a lot of the complaining about group players "exploiting" ? Groups get a number of bonus the most common used by the general player is the XP and gold farming.

They have nerfed the loot multipliers for group play a number of times. There were group that would get so much unique they would destroy the economy. When you see comment in chat about AURA bots these are players who can only play in groups. They generally have little to no damage they are defensive and provide buffs to the group.

POE is a ARPG so it is not really a group game. POE2 is likely to get any group play first.

The problem is that if the servers or some sort of a bug decide it's your time to go, then you die.
Meaningful or worthwhile? Not so much. You can't/won't take any risks unless you're a streamer so you're most likely stuck in safe/boring content.

I've never played SC, and im about 12 years into playing this game

Yes, most people dont do uber shapers 'n shit but there is a HC community and you would be amazed how many people do the end-endcontent

Many years ago when we spammed /oos yes, it was very frustrating to play HC, but we still did.

It's a matter of skill, effort and discipline

P.S - I dont try to mean that SC is not skilled, im just trying to say that its around 5-10% unlucky death, not 50\50 like a coinflip :-)

I do not want the game to be 'more online'. If anything, I want it to be less online. I'd love to just fully play offline.
No, it's not an MMO.
Gods no. The game can barely run during league release times because of their servers or their down quality optimization for a while you want them to add more people into the mix.

Throw on a VPN to dodge Europes scuffed routing, then slap in some better hardware. Suddenly, both issues happening on your end just disappear.

PVP Events (like PoE Royale or a DOTA clone) would work and should be in the game. However MMO content for current league content/standard wouldn't work since MTX kills the visual clarity of the game. You would also need to scrap Ascendancies because they're unbalanced.
