Ghosts in Vaal Temple

while going through Vaal Temple I have seen many time a ghost or apparition that sits in rooms with some rare enemies. This ghost can not be attacked or targeted, it stays out forever and can attack you anytime.

Question is, How do you deal with them?
I had one recently that stayed on me for the entire length of the temple before I just left because it only needed to attack 3 times to kill me and could stun lock me in its combo.
Running is fine but these ghost are becoming all too common.
