Suggestion: Endgame Group Content & World Bosses for PoE 2

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an idea for expanding endgame content in Path of Exile 2, specifically focused on encouraging cooperative gameplay and creating memorable large-scale encounters.

Right now, most of PoE’s endgame is heavily solo-oriented or optimized around small party play. While that has its strengths, I think there’s a big opportunity to introduce content that requires or strongly encourages multiple players working together.

💡 Concept: World Bosses / Large-Scale Encounters

It would be amazing to see “world boss” style encounters—powerful enemies that:

Spawn in specific zones or through special triggers
Require multiple players to defeat (not just scaled HP, but actual mechanics)
Feature coordinated mechanics (e.g., split roles, positioning, phases)
Reward players based on participation rather than just final hits

These could exist in:

Open-world style zones (shared instances or timed events)
Special maps designed for larger groups
Seasonal or rotating events tied to leagues

⚔️ Gameplay Ideas

Some mechanics that could make these encounters interesting:

Bosses with multiple phases requiring different roles (DPS, utility, survival)
Area-wide mechanics that punish uncoordinated play
Objectives beyond just damage (e.g., disabling shields, protecting NPCs, activating structures)
Scaling difficulty based on number of participants, but not trivially

🎁 Rewards & Incentives

To make this content meaningful:

Unique loot tables (cosmetics, crafting materials, or exclusive uniques)
Contribution-based rewards (to avoid leeching issues)
Weekly lockouts or diminishing returns to prevent farming abuse

🤝 Why This Would Be Great for PoE 2
Encourages community interaction and group play
Creates memorable “event” moments in the endgame
Adds variety beyond mapping and boss rushing
Attracts players who enjoy MMO-style cooperative challenges

⚖️ Potential Challenges

Of course, there are some concerns that would need careful design:

Server performance and player synchronization
Preventing griefing or inactive participation
Balancing rewards vs. effort
Maintaining PoE’s identity as a flexible, player-driven experience

Overall, I think adding some form of large-scale cooperative content would be a huge step forward for PoE 2’s endgame. It doesn’t need to replace existing systems, but it could complement them in a really exciting way.

Curious to hear what others think - would you like to see something like this in PoE 2? What kind of mechanics or rewards would make it worth your time?

Example Ashava the Pestilent World Boss during the First Diablo 4 Beta Tester with Insane BGM Sountrack Music was one of the best experience ever.

I do want to start with saying this is of course a really cool concept, I mean look how exciting it was for a little bit in D4. Sadly I just don't think it fits in these kinds of games, nobody cares about it in D4 and it's been like that since I would say season 2 lol
