Cheating Software Detected Message shows up. Support won't tell me why
|
So Yesterday I tried to finally reach maps with a test character in POE2 and the latency and stutter problems got worse and worse until It just got unplayable.
I then scoured the internet for a solution and found a few posts about changing gpu cache size and deleting shader chaches as well as trying some windows settings. I tried all of these and when I next started the game I got a Message saying. "You have been detected running cheating software This message is the only warning that we will be giving. Do not run cheating Software such as maphacks or bots. It's a violation of section 7 of our Terms of Use and also puts your account and computer at risk. Further use of cheating software will result in the termination of you Path of Exile account." So understandably I was very confused since I didn't install anything or use any external tool what so ever and was playing the game for a week straight before that. In POE 1 as well I never got anything like this message. I contacted support who answered pretty quickly but ultimately where just saying "delete everything that interacts with the game" After telling them again and again that I do not use anything they just answered like a machine: "As mentioned, we cannot provide any further information regarding this." nice I found forum posts of people having the same problem but they pretty much all play through a virtual machine or have ultra wide mods or reshade installed. I have nothing. No ultra wide. No reshade. No trade tools. Nothing. I play SSF so I don't need that stuff. Does anybody else have the same problem and resolved it? I am scared to play the game now. I put hundreds of Euros into my account and play since the very beginning. Last bumped on Apr 28, 2026, 8:37:17 AM

Based on what you are saying, I believe it has to do with you changing settings and deleting the cache. You said you did not install or have anything that interacts or modifies the game. I had a system not working when I deleted a file, so maybe they think you are somehow using some software even though you are not.
I would try to reach out to support again. Is there another method besides e-mail? They do tend to give robotic responses via e-mail it seems. I am not sure if it is an actual person or an automated response as I got almost exact response as you stated previously. Make sure to save all information of your account and the money you invested into it. Show them the proof you have no software that interacts with the game. The only other thing you can do is maybe uninstall the game and reinstall it to see if that works. Sometimes that could fix it. Try to reverse all your settings and gpu changes. Post this in the Bug Reports. Last edited by madnhate#4313 on Apr 27, 2026, 3:11:15 PM

The QQ input method commonly used by Chinese players can also cause this problem, so your issue may be similar.
