Campaign Navigation Suggestion: Reveal Maps Upon First Completion (Per League)
|
I’m completely fine with large campaign zones and the sense of exploration they bring on a first playthrough. That part of the game feels intentional and enjoyable when everything is new.
I also understand that this has been part of the game’s design for a long time. Exploration and fog of war have always been core to the experience. That said, with how often players now create multiple characters in a league, it feels like this is an area that could benefit from some modernization. The issue comes with repeat characters in the same league. Once a zone has already been fully explored, having to uncover the entire fog of war again turns it into pure navigation tax rather than meaningful gameplay. At that point, the challenge is no longer combat or progression—it’s just finding the same paths again. A potential solution: Once a campaign zone has been fully revealed or completed once in a league, remove or significantly reduce fog of war for that zone on subsequent characters. This keeps the first-time exploration intact while improving the experience for alts. It would also allow for larger, more complex map designs without increasing frustration on repeat runs. If full reveal isn’t desirable, even a partial solution—such as revealing major paths, objectives, or previously discovered areas—would go a long way. The goal isn’t to skip content, but to reduce unnecessary repetition and keep the focus on gameplay rather than re-navigation. Last bumped on Apr 25, 2026, 9:20:05 PM
