(OBSOLETE/RESOLVED) Incorrect weighting for veiled modifiers
|
EDIT: I missed a relatively minor re-run of the empirical testing discussed in the original bug report, conducted some time after the original tests. It appears the issue this post describes was resolved in 3.26, with its rework to veiled modifiers. This was not brought to my attention until after this report had been made. Thank you to Yohsene for doing so!
Since veiled modifiers have had their tiers removed, modifiers which previously had multiple tiers now have an effective weight of {Weight} * {# of legacy tiers}. The {Weight} in this instance is what has been datamined by the community, the given example will be JunMasterVeiledPhysicalDamageReductionDuringFocus_, which has a weight of 1500 on a helmet. This modifier had 3 legacy tiers: JunMaster2PhysicalDamageReductionDuringFocus1 JunMaster2PhysicalDamageReductionDuringFocus2__ JunMaster2PhysicalDamageReductionDuringFocus3_ Pictured are the modifiers (Left), and weights (Right). This information is publically available at Snosme's Poe-dat-viewer, at [Removed by Support] Empirical testing has found that, over thousands of unveils, the actual weight of this un-tiered modifier is 4500 - 3 times that of the weight listed. The suggestion made by many community members is that rather than removing the old modifiers, they were simply updated to be the new modifier, leaving 3 copies of the same mod, with the same weight - thereby tripling the odds of it rolling. I have been unsuccessful in finding multiple copies of the in-use modifier, but I believe this explanation to be plausible enough to warrant a bug report. At the very least, veiled modifier weighting does not match what appears to be intended by the developers. If this is not a bug, please confirm so. Yes, I am aware this is a hyper-specific bug report, but it does have a noticable impact on the game. you are viewing local side of the data. The server use weight stored in server side and never datamined
You can see some legacy flask mod still have spawn weight in local files, but clearly not spawnable as well as it clearly a bug that Tora 2-handed mod never really appear (only the inferior crafted version appear) " If it is , the adv mod will still shown there are 3 tier of mods. Also, "JunMaster2" is one set of veil modifier that only spawn as Crafted mod
"JunMasterVeiled" is another set which spawn as non-crafted (different mod color displayed) We don't really call that legacy tier This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee. About the username: Did you know Kowloon Gundam is made in Neo Hong Kong?

Your picture links are broken. What modifiers are you trying to get exactly on what item?
You can also block such multi-type veiled mods with crafted mods. Also keep in mind, that you can only get some veiled mods from specific syndicate members' dropped items and they are not in the veiled currencies' mod pool. cat is a rue

Ultimately, this thread is now obsolete as I missed a (relatively minor) re-run of the tests conducted in 3.26, which seems to have either intentionally or unintentionally patched it with the rework of veiled modifiers in that update. Thank you to Yohsene for pointing this out to me.
" There were 7 non-weighted copies of the mod, and I chose the wrong set, as neither were specifically tagged "crafted". Thank you for the clarification. " It's interesting to me that the {weight} column even exists, in that case. I'm aware of all sorts of mechanics with weights stored exclusively on the server, such as the FaridunWishes from this league mechanic, but all weights I found in mods.datc64 were aligned with what was listed elsewhere, and matched in-game experience. Are you sure that the weight is what's inaccurate in this case, rather than there being a {DoNotSpawn} flag stored elsewhere? It seems strange that there would be a locally-stored weight that's completely unused. " It was just showcasing the weights of the PDR While Focused mod in mods.datc64, which you can find via the attached link. All 8 modifiers are around row 17500-18k, if you want to see exactly what I was looking at. " Correct - This was not the case. These were mods rollable via veiled chaos, with a very specific group not shared by other mods you'd find on the basetype. |
