The Exile's Hunt - "Skip Campaign" Option
|
Hello Everyone,
The "skip campaign" option is a hot topic and we've discussed it a lot. Understanding that for the returning veteran, a tutorial is viewed more of a "time tax" than it is tutorial or even "fun" (especially in a static, unchanging world). The goal was to create an alternate leveling activity that's not boring and helps players reach level 65 so the campaign can essentially be "skipped". Mr. Jonathan Rogers has emphasized the importance of the campaign, particularly as a tutorial experience. That said, there’s a nuance there (I believe at least). While the campaign effectively teaches new players how to play, returning players often have a different need: they need a way to test and validate a build, not relearn the basics. In that context: A different kind of tutorial is needed for the veteran. Alternate Progression: The Exile’s Hunt (Alt-Character System) The Exile’s Hunt is an alternate progression path for people who have already completed the campaign. It becomes an option for alts to either replay the campaign or choose "The Exile's Hunt" (which is designed to complement the campaign, not replace it). Design Intent: 1) The original campaign remains the core tutorial and narrative onboarding. 2) The Hunt acts as a post-tutorial proving ground for alts. Alt-Characters start at level 65. Hunt ten artifacts across all 6 Acts. Runs last 1 to 15 hours—you don’t know which you’re in until you finish. Earn the 10, and the Atlas unlocks instantly. Hunts can include: Bounties, exploration, hunts, tracking, etc. ![]() Last bumped on Apr 24, 2026, 2:52:46 AM
