Repeated D3D12 device removed / app hang on RTX 5080 in Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2 repeatedly freezes/crashes only in PoE2 on my system. The game log consistently shows DirectX 12 device removal, after which the client hangs and Windows closes it.

Latest occurrence:
2026-04-23 around 14:11 local time

Evidence from Client.txt:
- [D3D12] Device Removed. Reason: 0x887a0005
- [RENDER] Restarting device

Relevant log references:
- Client.txt line 355551: D3D12 device removed
- Client.txt line 355552: render restarting device
- Shortly before the crash I was in MapMineshaft

Windows also logged:
- Event 1001 Windows Error Reporting: AppHangB1 for PathOfExileSteam.exe
- Event 1002 Application Hang

System / graphics settings:
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080
- Renderer: DirectX12
- Upscale: DLSS
- Reflex: LowLatency
- Resolution: 2560x1440
- Borderless fullscreen: true
- VSync: Off

Important note:
This is not a one-time issue. My Client.txt contains multiple previous D3D12 "Device Removed" entries on earlier dates as well, which suggests a recurring PoE2-specific renderer/device-loss problem.


Additional important reproduction detail:

I have two separate PCs with effectively the same specs/configuration, and I run Path of Exile 2 on both at the same time. When this issue occurs, both clients crash/freeze at the same moment consistently.
