Shaper beams in Originator maps
|
I just had 5 Shaper beams fired at my character in a span of about 8 seconds, intersecting and/or overlapping and filling just about all of the inhabitable space. This was after dodging about 5 others which were chronologically spaced more reasonably.
Then, after death, I returned to the same area of the map and got hit by 2 more (at the same time) in the same area with narrow halls. It seems like (more than) a bit much, and I think it calls into question the notion of balance. Heck, even the Shaper only fires one of them at a time (technically up to 2, but in an area that was designed for them, in a balanced way). Hey...Thanks for the 20% XP loss, whoever thought that this is a good idea. I just wanted to get Eagon to stop blocking my last map atlas point with his quest. To be clear, this is negative feedback for the over-the-top implementation of Shaper beams in Originator-influenced maps, although I thought it was pretty cool up until the point that it became ridiculous. So...negative for actual implementation, and positive for basic concept. Last bumped on Apr 20, 2026, 1:30:10 AM
