Remove Prospecting Astrolabe from the challenge list
" Dear Jatin, please forward our frustration about this and see if the challenge list can be updated. There is a certain group of players who strive to complete every line of every challenge, not "just the minimum" for 40/40. I, for example, have gone out of my way to spend a Mirror of Kalandra in Settlers and Keepers, just to reach this "total" challenge completion (see below). By having the unobtainable Prospecting Astrolabe in the challenge list, you demotivate this group of people from playing more, because this completion is unattainable. This group of people will play more if this line is removed from the challenge list, which should be a trivial thing to do (compared to actual bug and game mechanic fixes...). Whats a total challenge completion? That's the first time I hear about it.

" It means overcompleting challenges by doing all tasks listed past the requirements for the challenge rewards.
Example:
![]() Only 3 tasks are required for the challenge. A full completion would mean 5/3 tasks completed. I'd assume some people do it because they don't enjoy the freedom of "doing whatever you want" after 138/138 and 40/40 as much and prefer more clearer tasks. |

1. breathe in
2. breathe out 3. repeat this is an insane thing to complain about, you realize this? “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.”

I am a completionist and I think this is too much.

What a strange thread.
A challenge telling you to use an unobtainable item is objectively a mistake - asking for the mistake to be rectified shouldn't be controversial. It's like two minutes of work to remove a line item from a challenge. I swear elements of the community will oppose any request, just for the hell of it... Proposing a task that cannot be done is a bug and should be fixed. Does it not matter if it is too much or not.
Others personal opinion about if it is too much or not should not take place in threads like this. After all, it is a feedback, and a valid one. Exiles, pffff!

It would only really become an issue if a challenge were completely impossible to complete due to requiring something that simply does not exist. If it remains fully completable and only one out of several options is incorrectly listed, then in practice it does not matter much.
But aside from that, this really emphasizes that GGG should put more work into their challenge design. Not only to avoid something like this slipping through, especially since it has happened before during Necropolis if I remember correctly, but also to make challenges more fun and better aligned with the idea of being “completionist.” Players who go out of their way to complete everything should be the baseline, so all listed objectives should actually be required to complete a challenge. Not 4 out of 8, not 5 out of 8 , but 8 of 8, a system where completion truly means completing everything that is presented. Thanks for keeping the topic alive 😊
There are two things here: 1. There is an error in the challenge list and it should be corrected. 2. Is there any reason to care about that error? The main point is number 1. Number 2 is about explaining that I'm not simply being pedantic, i.e. requesting to fix an error for the sake of fixing it alone, but that there is an actual reason for fixing it, which influences the motivation to play. And I'm absolutely not alone, there are others that do this too. Whether it's insane or too much, I actually agree, it's insane and it's too much, but I love it nonetheless! You should try. Especially when spending a Mirror of Kalandra is involved. 🤪 |
