Notifications

When getting notifications on information like leveling up, gems leveling, deaths at the top of the ladder, players reaching new areas, etc, having the button to dismiss these notifications being the start button (pausing/logout) is extremely problematic.

Made extremely apparent in the gauntlet when trying to logout early in the campaign and having to push the start button several times just to get it to open which also leads to pausing and unpausing which could be the difference between life and death.

This is much less common as you get later in the game when these notifications are much less common, but the possibility of it being an issue is the problem.

I know you can turn off all of these notifications, which i have done, but i would prefer to be able to dismiss these notifications with a different button/combo of buttons so it isn't ever a hindrance.

Pushing start/options should just always pause the game, regardless of whether there are notifications up or not.

A tip for when you want to pause, it's usually better to open your inventory rather than the menu, specifically for this reason. Unfortunately, if you want to log out, you'll have to get to the menu, and I don't think there's a way to get straight there from your inventory when using controller input (although I could be wrong).
correct, you can only logout from the start menu.

When I say that I want to pause, it's intended purpose is being in a dire situation and needing the urgency to be able to logout afterwards. If there is no threat to my character, i wouldn't really mind clicking start 2-3 times whenever notifications appear. But if you are about to die and pause with select, but still need to get to the other menu, then your pause was pointless and you essentially just waste time going into another menu when you still have to access the start-pause menu. And wasting a quarter second by switching menus could lead to death. Maybe with select you could hard quit your game or turn off console, but all of these solutions would just be bandaid fixes to a problem that is easily fixable imo.

possible solutions
1. I would prefer a way to switch noti's to a different button
2. Make the start button the priority and holding it clear all notification (as of now clicking start while notifications are going will clear each one individually while holding it will clear all)
3. Give console a logout macro with (LT+RT + Some button), they use this combo for league mechanics and other special items so there would be plenty of room to dedicate a specific combo for logging out

2-3 times is fine... but in certain circumstances it can be 6+ (primarily during league start, but there are a few other times as well, such as when a delirium ends and you had a bunch of notifications stacked up).

If something outside the game happens and you need to pause in those circumstances, you're much better off opening inventory.

Anyway, I do agree there should be way to go directly to the menu without regard to how many notification are pending. I really think start/options should just always open the menu, whether there are notifications or not. Give us some other button (or combo) to dismiss notifications.

While we're discussing this type of things, I'd also like a way to disable the thing that makes the inventory command open the passive tree instead if I've leveled up recently. Or *at least* make it not to do that if I've already spent my passive point(s). I personally never want that behavior, but it's extra annoying when it happens after I've already spent my point and I'm just trying to open inventory.
You can open the inventory to pause the game, then press the PS-button and close the game in the menu if the situation is very dangerous.
But i don't consider that a good solution...
