Map layouts

I've heard the argument before. You have to play some bad maps so that you can realize *that* other map is actually nice, it's like eating some bad food just so that you know what good food tastes like once you do eat good food (?)
I'm not going to dive into how bad this argument is, because anyone who played this game for more than 100 hours in the endgame will most likely agree it's bad Right now though I have to play 30 bad maps so that I can earn the right to play 1 good map. So that makes me wonder how much I have to play to earn the right to play something that doesn't suck The suggestion here is simple. Either make those map layouts not suck or give the players the option to choose if they want to play what they want to play Personally, I don't care too much what 0.5 brings if this doesn't change or if it doesn't have something like the temple that almost completely ignores mapping I'm not going to run maps again because for the 5th big patch a good chunk of the community has been asking for a change on this and we never even got an answer aside from giving us sprint which is only relevant in the campaign And no, grand project doesn't solve it either. If every tower had a grand project by default then maybe we could start talking, but it would still be a bandaid just like sprint while the problem is still there The campaign deserves an entire post by itself since it also needs map rework, maybe even more than the endgame. The patch on act 3 back in the day did almost nothing, and act 4 came with the problems act 3 had because I'm pretty sure it didn't get even the bandaid patch Edit: I guess I was being unfair on the "we never got an answer" since I just remembered that somehow Augury used to be even worse than it is now, so there's that Last edited by iHiems#0168 on Apr 17, 2026, 8:29:44 PM Last bumped on Apr 17, 2026, 11:34:01 PM

" I'm not a fan of that either lol There are enough "meh but ok i'll do it" maps to give me that feeling. Some maps are just plain pain, i bet they could identify them easily checking what map people run with T1 waystone to rush the boss. SSF-HCSSF player

" " " Yup, feeling forced to grind through large amounts of low-quality content just to access the "fun" parts, does not feel meaningful (i.e. - why some have used the word "soulless" to describe the journey). These games are essentially cleverly disguised "treadmills" - designed to keep us marching forever (ideally, continuing to spend $$$). However, the treadmill is not disguised at all and it feels like work more than fun (however one defines it: 0.1 patch, more like POE1, temple, running maps, etc.) Agree on your post and I mean I'll let my hair down for a minute: the best they can come up with is to regurgitate "the beast" back from POE1 and bring in a terribly voiced Sin? Yeah, I know it's an ARPG but what happened to "20 years later, the gods are dead, blah blah blah" except for Sin who essentially kills his daughter and his voice sucks. I started playing POE1 in 2013, and have about 4 weeks into POE2. Last 2 weeks I've played significantly less than the first 2 and I find theory crafting what's wrong with the game more entertaining than the game itself. LOL. Yeah Yeah I know "go find another game" but the problem is, I will and I will hold no hard feelings for anyone who loves the game...I hope they do because it's always great to find a game you can settle into. It would just be a big let down for me. The game is truly soulless. After Act 1 (which is awesome btw), can care less about why im doing what im doing. There is little satisfaction in killing bosses because when everyone's a boss, nobody is. Reminds me of the movie Office Space ..."I have 8 bosses Bob". My traveling companions are "Sin" who is way less cool than POE1 Sin (and basically gave up his daughter to die) and Doryani who is the hero we all need. Sure he sacrificed thousands upon thousands, hung them up on a conveyor, and also had corpses hung on walls so you can vertically cut them in half for 5 gold all while trying to actively kill you as you make your way to him: but he did it to save his people and now he's seen the error in his ways (which has absolutely nothing to do with the fact you kicked the crap out of him so he's forced to submit to you). THESE PEOPLE SUCK LOL Don't forget the merchant with a big horn on her head....or the cigar toting medicine woman. What edge lord is in control of these designs? but I digress LOL Was going to break down the acts although as you say: Campaign deserves its own post. I'll end it with love Act 1 although when I not only see the "treadmill", but feel it, I'm less inclined to become invested in the game. |
