Regular crashes several times a day

I've been crashing very regularly over the past several days. most often while entering a new zone such as a map, or Kingsmarch, but it has happened even on just logging in on a character and going to move around in the karui shores.

I use the steam version for easy proton support as I run Arch.

it happens most often with my spectre build, but happens on my RF character too.

Also happens while interacting with the map device in kingsmarch sometimes.

Since you're on Arch, you're probably seeing the Linux specific crashes affecting many people (including myself). Check other similar threads about it:

My game crashed as I was writing this post, so yeah...

I'm experiencing the same problem, except way more often. The game is totally unplayable today. No error, no crash dump. Debian 13.

I can't seem to play the game today. Every time I log in, the game crashes after a few seconds. I'm on Linux Mint 22.2 Cinnamon.

I did two things, one or both of which appear to have helped (played ~20 minutes without crashing)

1. Switched to Proton 11.0 (beta)
2. In steam, right click Path of Exile -> installed files -> verify integrity of game files

the verification was successful, if it found any corrupted files, it did not tell me

MisterZimbu#3920, in this thread: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3917834/page/2, found very likely what seems to be the root cause of this issue. Check the link for more details, but basically the game has issues rendering certain characters (we don't know all of them, but "e๋" is definitely one of them) and will crash when attempting to do so. Try pasting that specific character into chat and you will instantly crash. Some people enjoy using unconventional characters for their character names, so every time they send a message, you crash.

My suggestion is find a random empty global channel and you probably won't crash anymore. Turning global chat off is not enough.
