Imbued Gems – Improvement Suggestion

Hi GGG,

Can you make imbued gems limited per link instead of per item? I know it's easier and faster to code it per item, but the current way just doesn't make (much of) sense! :)

Thanks for considering the idea!

You forgot about item-provided skills. Those receive the bonuses of all socketed gems, no matter whether they're linked or not. So they could benefit from multiple socketed imbued gems, if it was implemented the way you suggest.

Aren’t imbued gems only skill gems? If so how are the item-providing skills getting multiple bonus?
From the wiki:
"
It is functionally an extra support gem. This support effect also supports any other compatible skills provided by or linked in the socketed equipment.

It's the "provided by...the socketed item" part that I was referring to.

I understand that but the only case I can remember is Death Oath's use where you can have two 6 linked "skills" if you use one that has a support that works with death aura. Something with lifetap, for instance.
In most cases you need to "throw away" a good support for that level 1 and a skill gem.

Am I thinking this through well or am I missing something else?
There's a few more six socket items with built-in skills (e.g. Starcaller, Dancing Dervish) but you're right, you would give up proper levelled supports for level 1 ones if you socketed multiple imbued gems. All I meant to say was that there is a case where the per item limit is relevant.
