Interludes could be act 5

I guess at this point act 5 & 6 are very far in development, but I thought it might be worth throwing this out: I think the interludes set up the game really well for an act 6. It has a “rally the troops” feeling before a large battle that decides the faith of the world, and a “see your friends again before half of you will probably perish” aspect that actually builds some emotion (which is sorely missing in the rest of the story).
I think it would fit really well to have this as act 5, and then act 6 is an all out war between your alliance and the army of the Beast. I’m not sure why you’d replace it with another full size act. At this point in the campaign, I think having another “full size act” with mostly 1 type of biome will actually increase the “slog feeling”. The interludes are pretty snappy, lots of variety, as well as some nostalgia and a feeling of familiarity. I also think this is a more unique experience in an ARPG than “yet another act where we have 1 biome and 1 mission”. That’s what every act in every ARPG already is. They already know what they will do with Interludes. They already said that several times.
My guess is that they will make an alternative route to endgame with these interludes. It will be more simple, direct, straightforward leveling to 65+. And probably it will be unlocked only for those who has completed campaign. |
