Ancestral Bond Poe2 - 75 Spirit is a mathematical joke
|
Dear GGG team,
Ancestral Bond is great in Poe1. It is fun. The name "ancestral" has meaning. In Poe 2 it is a shame. 0.0000001% playrate with 75 spirit per totem. Basic player spirit: 100 Basic sceptre: 100 Result: 200 spirit (baseline) means 2(!) totems and no Aura/Buff. This is a joke and a disgrace to the creators to Poe1 ancestral bond REWORK this useless keystone and CREATE a REAL Keystone. Even 45 spirit per totem is HUGE investment and huge downside. Every bow spamm character laughs at you. Every pathfinder is already in the next map while you place your totem or hear "I do not have enough Mana or spirit to place .." revive the name Ancestral Bond. revive a dead keystone. Regards, a Mirage enjoyer. Last bumped on May 5, 2026, 4:28:59 PM

Spell totem especially needs a lot of work. I've tried it 3x now and with builds that can quickly stack power charges I still generally have the area clear before I can pop a few of them up. Running to a new enemy swarm to pop them it's faster to just use my main cast to keep clearing than it is to use them.
The spirit is actually doable, I've seen people with well over 1k spirit, but because of the charge requirement even if you have the spirit it's a bitch to get many of them going at once. Without Ancestral Bond you have a cap of about 4 spell totems. You need to generate or retain 12 charges in a few seconds to pop up all 4. After taking the node you still need to do that, plus have 300 spirit available. For the node to give you 50% more totems than without it you now need 18 charges and 450 spirit. To double your count, which lets be honest anyone taking Ancestral Bond wants to crank out spell totems and have them do most of the work, so we're dreaming of double totem count at minimum, you need 24 charges and 600 spirit and for them to be up at once you need all those charges within like 15 seconds. I loved Spell Totems in PoE and was excited to make a totem build even if I couldn't be an old man with no pants, but it's awful. You need to make a build that can focus on very fast charge generation and retention, which almost always means you'd be clearing faster than your totems anyway. If you want a lot of totems you need a ton of Spirit on top of that. If you manage building and getting the gear for both of those then totems still don't share your infusions, so either they're still going to be casting weaker versions of the spells or you need to add on selfless remnants and stack as much presence as you can so it can actually reach the totems you're raising, plus be darting around the battle field doing your own damage to keep generating the infusions and charges. The totems stay in one place and can only target enemies that come within their range, so once a spot is clear they become useless, and with Ancestral Bond they still sit there reserving your Spirit until their time is up. So even if you have charges and are trying to progress if you've hit your spirit cap you can't until your oldest totem dies to free up Spirit for a new cast. Compare that to virtually any build having the spirit to run CoC and CoEA and have them feed off one another so they don't need to bother with totems and just have loads of extra spells firing all the time wherever they and the enemies are and... no shit no one uses spell totems in this game. |
