Hateforge gloves bug

vaal blade flurry consumes rage each stage when used with hateforge (requiring 300+ rage for a single channel). without gloves, it consumes 30 souls, instead 300+ souls. vbf goes to stage 2 with 48 rage, with skill costing 24rage. is this a bug or should vaal channeling skills spend their cost each stage, instead of once, since VBF has a limited channel time, like vaal cyclone?
