Stacking Torment Scarab of Posession increases limit of spirits on monsters

in 3 out of 3 maps i've done with 3 of these scarabs stacked, i got this type of abomination, sometimes multiple per map. I am not really sure if it's a bug, but the wording makes it seem like it is not intended to increase limit of spirits per monster.
