blight chest are not showing on map

happened today. blight chests are not showing on map, only salvaged towers are showing. I can see the roots on minimap, but the roots lead to empty spaces. rewards are not claimed yet as shown in the center screen. is this bug or some new mechanic that needs me to interact?
