[QoL] Single-Currency Pickup Pet
|
Hi everyone,
I’d like to suggest a quality-of-life feature that could significantly improve gameplay flow, especially during fast-paced mapping. Suggestion: Currency Pickup Pet with Selectable Filter The idea is to introduce an optional pet that can automatically pick up a specific currency item type chosen by the player. How it would work: * The player selects one currency type (e.g., Orb of Alteration, Chaos Orb, Orb of Alchemy, etc.). * The pet automatically picks up only that selected currency. * The selection can be changed at any time (even mid-map). * The pet would ignore all other items. Example use case: Let’s say I'm running maps and an Eldritch Altar modifies drops to include a specific currency (e.g., Alteration Orbs). I could quickly switch my pet to collect that currency without interrupting gameplay flow. If later I encounter a different situation (e.g., Chaos Orbs becoming more valuable in that map), I could switch the target currency again. Why this would be valuable: * Reduces repetitive clicking and hand strain * Keeps the player focused on combat and decision-making * Maintains loot relevance without fully automating everything * Still requires player choice and awareness (not full auto-looting) Balance considerations: * Limit the pet to only one currency type at a time * Possibly require manual activation or a small cooldown when switching * Could be tied to microtransactions (cosmetic pets with functionality) or a gameplay unlock I believe this strikes a good balance between convenience and maintaining Path of Exile’s core loot philosophy. Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks for reading. Last bumped on Apr 18, 2026, 2:59:40 AM

I think that's the great idea 💡 insted using one filter and forgot to change it in higher lvl when yiu don't need to or don't want to pick up trash 😉
I wish we can get it 👍😊 Multiplayer killer -_-

I aggree and would go beyond. I think we could have a pet that will take all currency filtered to show. The only limitation would be the fact that its "Currency only".

Funny enough I was thinking the same thing and came here while consider writing up a version of it. Maybe due to the currency drop buff that people start feeling looting to be a chore instead of the excitement. After clicking on 4000 chaos, looting another one certainly feel underwhelming, but you HAVE to click it because it is a non-insignificant amount of currency (and perhaps it has ingrained in your brain after 14 years of playing that chaos is something significant).
Now don't get me wrong, drop buff IS a good thing. It allow people to experimenting with crafting more without the drawback of "but what can I buy with this" nagging in the back of your head. I gave it a good thought and have think up several approaches to improve this issue without making this game a public version of Tencent's PoE (there is a China-specific version of this game that have loot pet and I am seriously considering to move over there, being a hoarder that I am). 1. -20 atlas point to make SOME (I am thinking 30%-50%) currency loot get collect into an NPC automatically not unlike Kingmarch's Mapper Device.
Spoiler
This reduce click rate for loot. Preserve the excitement of obtaining it (if there is still any) as you picking the item out of NPC, and have significant downside to use, being opportunity cost of 20 whole atlas passives. Why 20? Because Unwavering Vision. Early mapping it would pair very well for Alch-and-Go strat.
2. Similar to OP's suggestion, but not making it a free unlockable (or MTX, since GGG is very against P2W), but in the form of an Exceptional Damageable Minion Support gem.
Spoiler
This means you do not have access to it at the beginning of the league, you have to work your butt off for it (acquire the gem), reserved to level 70 zones and above only (exceptional gem level requirement), and it is tangible, mean if your minion dies, the gem will not work and you have to pick the loot yourself, it is influenced by your minion speed and might interfere with its combat AI. This however might be considered as a "buff" for minion builds, so a new Minion need to be designed to use this gem on other builds. 2 slots cost to use the utility is a helfty cost, 3 to make it more effective (minion speed support) and 4 to make it more consistent (meat shield support).
3. Revert drop rate back to previously, but multiply the drop quantity in the same amount. (baseline of Drop Chaos to be 2 at a time, Div 2 at a time, mirror stay as 1 as they wasn't buffed).
Spoiler
This is probably the easiest way to solve the looting without adding any new mechanic to the game. This solution preserve the loot "excitement" since economically every drop and loot click earn player the same amount of wealth as previously, while allow player to enjoy experiment with the crafting just like right now.
