Lag spike and high ping

So for the past few days I have had frequent and consistent lag spikes when idling. So it spikes from around 10 to 200 ping evey 3-5 seconds.

When playing map, I sometimes get huge spikes of arond 30-50k ping (with the occasional 100k+ ping). This is not necessarily associated with how much action is going on on screen. Sometimes just walking towards my area where I died in the map can sometimes result in huge spikes. I farm rituals and these have a rather high chance to reach those huge spikes whenever I open one, or shortly after opening one.

I have tried now with frankfurt and with amsterdam server. I have attached both WinMTR stats below, respectively.

From what you’ve shared, your setup at home looks fine. The first hop (your Speedport aka https://speedport-ips.de/) is clean with low ping and no loss, so it’s not your PC or local network causing this.

Those big packet loss numbers in the middle can look scary, but since they don’t continue all the way to the end, they’re mostly just routers along the way ignoring ping requests. The real problem shows up further down the route where things get unstable closer to the game server.

That’s why you’re seeing those random spikes — it’s more of a routing issue between your ISP and the server rather than something on your side.

Easiest thing to try is a VPN. A lot of people with Telekom connections fix this instantly that way because it forces a different route. You can also try switching game servers or quickly test with a mobile hotspot just to compare. If that runs fine, then you know for sure it’s not your setup.
