hitting large numbers of enemies causing desync/disconnect

Hitting sufficient numbers of enemies at once (most common in juiced maps but achievable just by hitting a big enough harvest or a big influenced and astral pack spawning in on top of a regular one) causes the game to completely desync, constantly carrying out the last ordered skill/move command and refusing to accept additional inputs on skills or motion, while desynced my ping shows as perfectly level instead of its usual bouncing around and I can see chat, type in chat, open my inventory, skill tree and menus and even allocate skill points and remove skill gems (removing the locked into skill gem doesn't let me issue new commands just causes it to fail to do anything instead). Sometimes if I killed every enemy in range and wait long enough the desync ends, otherwise I have to exit to character selection or log in to resolve the issue, this is persistent and occurs regularly when attempting to play even mildly juiced content like breach beyond.

I am on a mac but this appears to be a server/client desync issue so its unclear if that matters.
