Spectres and contruct corpses from ritual

I'm sorry, but this is absolutely F*CKING B*LLSH*T!! I spent so long farming Ritual for stupid A$$ corpses only to lose them the moment I take my helm off so that I can enchant it with influence because we can't do these things with items equipped? How am I supposed to know all the little intricacies of gems like Spectres? Like we really have to lose these corpses just so we can swap gear and gems around?
